A place to write, to remember and to move forward, at one's own pace
You help people through a loss. Posterity offers them a space that extends your support between sessions: writing to the one who is gone, keeping memories close at hand, and little by little looking towards the future.
Three uses
What the people you support can do with it
Grief is not just a page that turns. Posterity accompanies each stage: staying connected, finding words, then passing things on in turn.
Personal legacy
Passing things on in turn, when the time comes
Losing a parent often sparks a wish: to tell one's own story to one's children. With the personal legacy, the person you support prepares what they will pass on, at their own pace, and chooses a guardian.
Idea: bring it up when the person talks about what they would like to leave to their loved ones.
A letter written today, opened in a year: what one feels, what one hopes. The time capsule delivers it on the chosen date and shows how far one has come.
Idea: suggest this exercise in a session or in a support group.
A page to tell the story of the person who has passed, gather their photos and write in the guestbook. Relatives and friends can leave a memory there, even from far away.
Idea: a group writing workshop around a shared memory.
